The fourth incredible beer in our twelve day lineup: Orval - TopicsExpress

The fourth incredible beer in our twelve day lineup: Orval Trappist Ale from Belgium. In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public, Trappist monks live there and are the shareholders and manager of the company. Many agree that the somewhat unpractical addition of this sometimes undesired yeast strain is what grants Orval its age worthiness, not to mention unique aroma, making it a one of the few beers worth cellaring. Bottled at 5.2% abc, it can go up as high as 7.2%. Located within the confines of the Abbey, the Orval Brewery was created in 1931 to finance the enormous reconstruction works of Orval. The brewer’s commercial policy is adapted to the values of the monastic community. Income from Royalties generated from the brand name go to social welfare works and the maintenance of the buildings. The production facilities, completely renovated in the course of the last fifteen years, represent the most modern technologies of brewing science. They are finely tuned for quality and respectful maintenance of the original methods of production which have been in use in this same location for almost eighty years. A great beer to settle down to. On special for $5.25 today only, so fill your stockings! Cheers beer lovers The Toad
