The fourth treatment is behind us. Each treatment has had its interesting twists, but Danny is slowly regaining his strength. One good thing—he’s eating. For those of you who know me, I am not a cook, but I have been in the kitchen more over the past 7 weeks than I have in the past 6 months. (Okay, maybe a year.) The next two things that will happen this week are: 1) A PET Scan will be scheduled—on Friday, we think. We have not yet received confirmation of the time. 2) Tissue from Danny’s tumor is currently being tested. If a certain marker is present, Danny is eligible for a clinical trial that has been highly successful. We should know one way or another this week or next. Danny and I are encouraged by your words—it is as if you are cheering us on as we are running this race. Thank you! Danny would like to thank a couple of groups of people: To my colleagues, especially those of you at Clay Elementary: thank you for thinking of me as you begin a new school year. I appreciate you and thank you for your concern and prayers. I also appreciate the former students, which includes many of my colleagues (since I have been around for a while). Thank you for letting me know that I was a positive influence in your life. And now you are returning the favor. Today we had a tremendous Sunday School class and morning worship service. The presence of God was powerfully on the scene. The minister shared the following scripture: 2 Peter 1: “2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” The minister said that the promises of God are like pitons used by mountain climbers. As we claim and follow each promise of God, we pound a piton in the rock face, and then use that piton as a solid foundation to launch us to the next spot. God’s promises are sure—His word contains “exceeding great and precious promises”. All we have to do is grab hold of the promises, obey Him step by step, and He will lead us ever upward to be more like Him. The message encouraged me to continue standing on the promises. Isaiah 55:11a: “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void.” Danny writes, “I continue to covet your prayers, both for healing and for me to place my full trust and faith in my heavenly Father--that He will take care of me and Debbie. Regardless of where this journey takes us, I truly believe that God is and will be with us each step of the way. I also believe that He has good things in store for us.” God’s promises never fail. Love and thanks to you all. Danny and Debbie
