The freezing drizzle and snow are over, but that does not mean - TopicsExpress

The freezing drizzle and snow are over, but that does not mean there will no icy spots on your commute home this evening. It will not be as bad as this morning; however there is a layer of ice with some light snow on top in shady spots. Some patchy fog may develop over the eastern plains tonight as the atmosphere is still rather moist at low levels. We will not have a repeat of the terrible icy conditions of last night and early today. The good news is, the weather this weekend looks to be pleasant and cooperative for the Broncos game. Both Saturday and Sunday highs will be in the mid to upper 40s with mostly sunny skies. By game time on Sunday the temperatures will be around 40 degrees with a few clouds. The next storm system will drop into Colorado Sunday evening with colder temperatures and another chance for snow Sunday night and Monday morning. The first commute of the work week will likely be slick and slow over the I-25 Corridor. This next storm will also have a little more Pacific moisture coming with it, so the mountains will finally get some flakes! It is likely that the high country will start to get snow by midday on Sunday, but the snow will hold off in Denver until after the Bronco game. This next storm will probably just bring a light snowfall for Denver and the eastern plains, but the timing will be such that the Monday morning commute will be impacted. In the mountains, it looks like a nice 6-12 inch snow can be expected Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. The Arctic air mass that has gripped the eastern half of the nation will moderate next week and shift a little farther to the east. That should bring an end to the current Roller Coaster ride of temperatures next week as our weather will begin to flow into Colorado from the Pacific.
