The frenetic wall-to-wall media coverage surrounding the quality of the Egyptian national team ahead of their World Cup play- offs against Ghana has provoked a backlash from the country’s deputy minister Joseph Yammin. The storm of media coverage that began immediately after the draw in Cairo has swung into full gear as the day draws closer to the hugely anticipated fixture at the Baba Yara stadium. The country’s deputy sports minister is worried the media in Ghana have over-hyped the quality of their opponent, which he believes has deflated the faith of many local fans ahead of their meeting against the North African side in two weeks time. He has chastised the media for failing to inspire confidence among fans by highlighting the quality of the Ghanaian side rather than focus on hyping ‘overrated’ Egyptian side. “Today you ask anybody about the chances of our team and you can sense some sense of fear and desperation. The media is to be blamed for such a scenario,” Yammin told Happy FM #identical
