The front has arrived in Deep South Texas. Zapata airport just recorded a 38 mph wind gust with a 15 degree drop in temperature. That front should arrive in McAllen/Mission/Edinburg around 2-3 p.m. and into Brownsville/Harlingen/Raymondville/SPI by 4-5 p.m. Gusts of 40 to 45 mph are expected with the passage of the front and will keep up for several hours. Stronger wind gusts up to 50 mph will be at least possible in the coastal counties through the overnight hours. This wind will be strong enough to blow around or knock over outdoor items such as portable toilets, basketball goals or other small lawn furniture. Minor damage to outbuildings and sheds and older/lesser constructed mobile homes and isolated power outages are also possible.
