The frustration of being a youth in Nigeria is second to non. The funniest category of people who have continued to ridicule the youths are the employers (both government and private). The madness demonstrated in jobs adverts emphasized the fact that wealth will continue to revolve round the selfish minority who are sitting on the nations treasury. Somebody like David Mark who was governor 30 years ago is still in power, Bamanga Tukur was governor when president GEJ was still in the university is still benefiting from taxpayers money. While growing up I was familiar with the saying that youths are the future of tomorrow, till this age Im still hearing the same story, Na course? No! This must change in 2015. How can a sane employer place a job advert for people between the ages of 24-30 and still put 10-15 years cognate experience as basic requirement? Where in Nigeria can you see a 14 or 16 years old working? to be qualified for such jobs, the interpretation is that you might have started working at the age of 14 or 15. The quaints and quixotic nature this old men must be rejected. Except private schools, you hardly see a government owned university graduate of 22 years in Nigeria. I remember during my faculty registration in year one in the university, my faculty officer was critical of me that I was too young, he said some universities in Nigeria wont accept me but I graduated as an old man. This system of deceit and criminal discrimination must stop, the control system where jobs are not given based on merit but on who you know must be strongly discouraged. The old men in positions must give way for the younger generation because the solution of the past cant give positive result to todays problem. Nigeria must practice the culture of utilizing youthful energy to enhance national development.
