The fun of flying. Boarded an SWA hour-delayed flight today. (Forget SWAs former reputation for on-time flights. 50% plus of my flights in the last year have been delayed.) At any rate, I had a pretty good boarding number (under A40) and so I got on board, looking for my preferred second row seating option. I like this because I can keep my handbag with me and still exit quickly. Walked on, saw middle seat in row 2, one gal in window seat, another in aisle seat. I said May I have the middle seat? Gal on aisle replied: There are lots of seats in the back. To which I responded I know; but I like to sit in the front of the plane. Exasperation. Huffing and puffing. She was obviously displeased. The man sitting in row one turned to me, winked and grinned. Young gal stepped into aisle and I took my middle seat. But she had her carry-on under the seat ahead of me, so I turned and gestured to her to draw attention. Another flamboyant demonstration of her irritation ensued. But she moved the bag. She spent the 1 hour flight in an obvious huff. Only my bemusement at her sense of entitlement kept me entertained! Had she desired two seats, she could have purchased them. I guess I ruined her day. I hope her life never confronts her with a REAL problem.
