The gallant charge of the Twentieth North Carolina on that field will be remembered as long as there lives a soldier to admire gallantry or historian to record the deeds of the worthy(illegible). (from the North Carolina Troops) Felix Kenyon Fipps my Confederate Ancestor Military Felix Kenyon Fipps served Company D. 20th Regiment North Carolina Troops. Originally the 10th North Carolina Troops until reorganized April 1861, nicknamed the Columbus Guards #4, Men From Columbus County,under command of JB Stanley. Felix service records describe him as five feet, 10 inches tall. He enlisted on April the 26th 1861 at Whiteville, Columbus County with his brother Waterman Fipps and served with him in the same company. He was listed as POW November the seventh 1863 at Rappahonnock River, Virginia. Confined at Point Lookout MD (estimated day) on November the tenth 1863. Felix was exchanged February the twenty 1865 at Coxs Wharf, Virginia. He was present February the twenty-eighth 1865 at Camp Lee, Virgina. Thur most of Felixs military career he served as a Surgeons Orderly.
