The genesis of the Palestinians (derives from the biblical word Philistine; people who lived in what is now Gaza,) commences in the late 1800s; people of unknown origin who migrated from northern Syria to what was then called Palestine; (later adopted as the official name by the League of Nations post-WWI,) as day laborers and farm hands. Jews, Christians and Muslims always lived on the land; local Muslims are recognized as Arabs. After 2000 years in exile a few Jewish visionaries, the Rothschilds amongst them (French and British bankers), realized that the only place safe in the world for the Jews to survive as a people is a home of their own. They acquired lands legally bought from local owners and absentee owners, holding legal title to the property. Fast forward to post WWII, 1948 the Israel Arab war breaks out and the Palestinians flee in all directions to the neighboring Arab states, after being promised by the local rulers that Israel will be defeated and they can come back; the scenario repeats itself again in 1956, 1967, and 1973 with numerous conflicts in between. Never accepted by their Muslim brethren they were settled in refugee camps in which they still reside under the compassionate assistance of the UN. Mind you that in the 1800s everything south of Tel Aviv is sand and desert; everything north is malaria infested swamps -land with out a shade tree in sight. Time moves on, Israel grows and prospers while all this time its Arab neighbors point their finger at Israel to detract the world from their internal problems of poverty, religion and local despots, thus we arrive at where we are today. ~Drew Johnson Israel didnt start this. Hamas is using Palestinians as human shields. Israel has warned them before every shot. Hamas tells its people to stay in place so the death count grows (in an attempt to gather misplaced global sympathy from uninformed folks) Israel has honored every truce as Hamas kept blasting their citizens with rockets where do folks get such wrong information? I have friends IN ISRAEL; right now living in bomb shelters. If one rocket was shot into your town in Kentucky from a neighboring state would you think you should sit there and let your children die? Or fight back? Israel has been more than patient with these terrorists. Time to take them out. For Once and for all. ~Pam Toby Silleman
