The gift of music, Song 3 of 15. During the early 1970s, Rolling Stone Magazine told us young rock fans that we should listen to the blues. I obeyed. I found Skip James, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Willie Dixon to my liking, but, suburban teen that I was, couldnt really connect all the way with the vibe of the genre. My listening approach to blues changed about ten years ago when I read a comment by Carlos Santana, the blues isnt about being sad. Its partly that, but mainly about the yearning for transcendance. Willie Dixon, accompanied by a galaxy of immortals: Albert King, BB King, Koko Taylor, Etta James, and Junior Wells, among others. Dig. https://youtube/watch?v=yI-Q3DJwo3A
