The girls are having a tough go but overall they remain positive in the NICU. The valve has closed in Caydens heart but theyve noticed an atrial septal defect. They are monitoring it in hopes it will close. They hear fluid in her lungs so they have her on a diuretic to try to help eliminate it. Her weight is down and she had some breathing spells in the night but was able to come out of them on her own. They took blood to test for infection like her sister but dont have results back yet. Callies levels of CRP have decreased which is positive, meaning the infection appears to be decreasing. The E.Coli somehow got onto her breathing tube and now she has a respiratory infection. They originally thought she may have necrotizing gastroenteritis which is inflammation and death of intestinal tissue, but they are close to ruling that out...which would be nice considering it is dangerous. Her platelet count was low so she got a blood transfusion. Her weight is down also. She is now known as the wild child in the NICU as she keeps pulling on her tubes and ripping the monitors off her body...I assume she just wants to get up and go for a rip. Mommy is not allowed to touch the babies for a couple of days since she was exposed to a work colleague with bronchitis. Daddy is going to officially go on record and say that no guy will ever qualify to date his daughters.
