The global movement known as rewilding, with the goal of returning areas to a more natural state, is gaining in popularity. One of the largest rewilding projects currently underway is the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative known as Y2Y. It seeks to create wildlife corridors so that animals sharing the land with people have a way to navigate human obstacles like highways and housing. Wildlife corridors connect habitat patches or islands that an animal needs to fulfill all parts of its life cycle, the President of Y2Y explains.
