The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one. (John 17:22) Jesus was talking to God just before He sacrificed His life for ours. He was talking about His excitement in passing along the glory as an inheritance from the Father, to the Son and then to us. In order for an inheritance to take effect, there has to be a death. In this case, Jesus didn’t unwillingly give up His life and Its glory as much as He stepped aside and turned over the glory to us. It is a continuation of the flow from the Father to the Son and now to us. Our glory is found in the finished work of Jesus. It is not in the future. It is in the here and now. It is for us to step into and for us to take hold of as heirs. The glory is so powerful and valuable that all creation cries out for it. As sons, we are to take hold of it and walk in it on the earth. It will do its work in us and shine forth just as Jesus. We will do greater works in His glory! ~Anne Schickowski
