The goal of strength training is not to lift more weight, - TopicsExpress

The goal of strength training is not to lift more weight, primarily, though that is helpful for tracking gains. The main goal for each session is to reach thorough muscle fatigue. This is what signals to the body that it needs to recover stronger, which it does during rest. Thorough muscle fatigue is best reached by slow movement through full range of motion. If you have to go lighter to go slow through the full range, that will be better for your strenght gains in the long run. Free fitness tip. :)
