The goal of the follower of Christ is not to force other people to - TopicsExpress

The goal of the follower of Christ is not to force other people to change; the goal of the follower of Christ is to change himself. But the Cross has never had a lot of followers. The Cross is not susceptible to being spread by viral youtubes. The Cross takes place invisibly, silently, in the minute-by-minute workings of the human conscience. And in todays marketing atmosphere, in and out of the Church, the Cross is less popular than ever. Christ is ever more silent, ever more unseen, ever more off camera. Heather King When I get the chance to talk with people about a cross in their life, I do see that all of us share in the idea that a cross means that we are not loved by God...that we did something wrong...that it is unfair...unjust...not right...too hard... Friends, God left His Son on the cross, abandoned, to die. And through that death all of us were saved and the world was transformed. Suffering is a key concept in Christianity and it is anathema to our sensibilities. Yes, sometimes we bring on our own suffering...sometimes our suffering is completely unjust and unfair...so many times it is unbelievably hard. But that suffering has meaning when it is united to the Suffering Servant. It does not get easier but He will bring you through, day by day, minute by minute, keeping your heart on His suffering and on the fact that you are loved more than you know...loved because you are made in His image and made to love as He loves us... Your suffering affects you and those around you. When suffering evokes love as a response, through Him and in Him and with Him, we imitate our Creator and we become open to Love (Him) which is the force of real change.
