The grand tour .. Starting with the great Southwest, U.S. celebrations. Faralitos ... some say luminarias, but those refer to larger bonfires set alight along the roads for the faithful to travel to late evening church services. Faralitos, at brown paper bags filled with sand and set with a candle, leading the way to the Christ child. Traffic lights are not allowed on Christmas eve tours where faralitos glow, and sound is muffled.. A great part of the Southwest Christmas tradition. Here you see them in the heart of this tradition - in and around New Mexico, and in Santa Fe. Often Pinon burns in adobe fireplaces this night.
