The great British historian of the 18th century, in his six volume - TopicsExpress

The great British historian of the 18th century, in his six volume book, titled,The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire wrote the following.... Surrounded by the enemies of their religion, the Ethiopians, near a thousand years, were forgetful of the world by whom they were forgotten But, were we forgetful of the world? We were not! From time immemorial, we chose our freedom over servitude of any kind. We were not whiling away our time. We were building Lalibela, and our warriors were vigilant and ready to do battle with our enemies. When Gibbon believed we were sleeping we were fighting and defeating our enemies. There was no time when our enemies were asleep and there was no time we did not sleep with one eye open. The same enemies are still around. For over one thousand and more years we have shown them we are indestructible, uncololonizable, and as fierce as ever. It is indeed an honor to be Ethiopian. I for one praise God for having given me the privilege and honor of being Ethiopian.
