The greatest attitude that I fear in myself is the mindset of self - TopicsExpress

The greatest attitude that I fear in myself is the mindset of self righteousness. The belief that God relates to me based upon how well I have done or not done instead of what Christ has done for me. While I am certainly not opposed to fasting, I am against the attitude that I used to possess towards fasting. For example. I would fast for various time periods and feel condemned if I did not make the allotted time that I had predetermined. Think about it. You dont eat for a couple of days and feel bad on top of that because you broke fast early. Theres something wrong with that picture. And then I was taught that fasting enforces the position my body has been declared, dead unto sin.(Rom.8:10) One day I was walking the less then a mile walk to McDonalds (God has a sense of humor), and I heard the Lord say that fasting does not enforce that position; MY SON did that. Wow! Once you truly taste the good news of Gods grace you can never return to the struggle of performance based religion. Amazing Grace does not stop being amazing grace even ( or especially) after you have accepted Christ.(Col.2:6) Now theres a thought.
