The greatest enemy of faith, the most subtle and the most devastating, is the lack of knowledge of the Word of God. The enemy sows confusion to the unwary and ignorant. To believe the devil’s lie that, “it is God putting you through trials and tests,” will neutralize your faith. Through religious tradition, Satan has blinded the minds of Christians to what the Word says. Jesus said, “Satan hath desired to …sift you.” Luke 22:31. James 1:2 says, “Count it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptations.” Notice he said, “When you fall into temptations,” not when you walk into them with your eyes wide open. Some folks have walked into them with their eyes wide open and not counted them joy! This verse is often misquoted as, “The trying of your faith perfects it.” But the Word says, “The trying of your faith perfects patience.” Patience is a spiritual force that will support your faith like a pier under a bridge. Satan tries that which you call “faith” to see if it is true faith, or if it is mental assent. The force of patience will undergird your faith and cause you to be constant – holding the same confession through the trial satan brought. Charles Capps Patience means to keep doing your faith actions faithfully on a regular daily, multi-event basis and as occasion serves. The minimum biblical schedule is two events per day. There is no maximum set. It can be every 10 seconds as you keep it up. “The trying of your faith by continual situations and events with constant torment and distractions in your mind works patience, the strength to keep at it IF you keep at it.” When done this does not mean that problems go away, but at the slightest sign you obey Phil 4:4-9 joyfully rather than in terror. You may start in terror but the law of faith works whether you are in terror or peace. You keep your mouth and mind filled with faith actions until it is your lifestyle, then patience, glad and faithful consistency will be the result. If you r goal is to no longer have troubles, you are in selfish deception. As soon as you start working on your own life, find others to help also. This is how it works, if you want fruit for yourself, go plant it for others. This is why if you are sick go lay hands on others to get them healed. Don Mann
