Myanmars Muslim Rohingya population is considered one of the most persecuted minorities in the world. The Myanmarese government refuses to recognize the Rohingyas as part of the countrys ethnic make-up and continues to label them foreigners. Concerns are now rising that the launch of the much awaited census is not only going to increase ethnic tensions, but also consolidate the Rohingyas status as stateless people within their own land. In this edition of the Debate we ask who speaks for the voiceless Rohingyas as much of the West scrambles to forge economic and political ties with the government of Myanmar.
