The harvesting season has begun. The harvest machine has not yet arrived but our traditional pavnhe from Chandgad Kolhapur started coming from Ghats with their long sickle and potlyo. Now early morning manay and kameri walking with solye , angraa, supaam,pezecho budkulo..doryo..pathle will be a regular scene. Today I met Pundalik who has just arrived from Chandgad ghats..Patrao ami Carlos bhatkaraguer ravlot..tumi garaj lagleas yevat...he told me with his traditional humble tone of Chandgad. Before few years these Chandgad labourers had dominated the entire field work . .with the high labour cost many fields around Saligao had remained barren..thanks to the arrival of the mechanical Harvest machines.. which has reduced the cost by almost 50%.
