The head wrap originated in Sub Saharan Africa.......dhuku in Zimbabwe.....doek in Afrikaans......tukwi in Botswana....a traditional head covering used among most rural elderly women. The head scarf is used as an ornamental head covering or fashion accessory, or for functionality in different settings. Its uses or meaning can vary depending on the country and/or religion of those who wear it. The Bible says; 1 Corinthians 11:6......So if a woman does not cover her head, she should cut off her hair. If it is a disgrace for a woman to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her own head.
