The highlight of my year was finding myself in a band with two incredibly talented musicians and two incredibly insane individuals. The Rum Hogs has been a crazy trip already and there has never been a dull moment. They say energy cannot be created or destroyed, and that it can only be harnessed and manipulated. When we wrote and recorded High we managed to harness some crazy energy and get it onto tape. That was the easy part. Following through and doing the boring business stuff like actually releasing the single and taking care of the admin side of things was the difficult, boring part. But we pushed ourselves and it was worth it. We might never be millionaires and who knows maybe well be billionaires one day, but either way we dont care. Music is a higher plain and being involved in creating it and sharing it is a high that money cant buy. Thats why we dont do pledge campaigns and thats why we pour every bit of our own money, effort, and talent into making music the way we want to make it. We gigged and worked in various bands to make as much money as we could, to then spend hours and days trawling Gumtree to pick up the best studio equipment we could afford at the best price. We set up our home studios, filled them with Rum, and went to work. If we ask you to buy our music its not so we can feel good about ourselves, and its not to make money - its so we can share some of the joy we have and make you feel good about yourself. Wealth and fame are a consequence and a natural result of being good at something - they should never be the Goal. A special thank you goes to Jon Moorehead at Moosetronix for his insane mastering skills; Billy McAuley for an amazing job on the video; and big Chris and all the guys at Creativ3 Design for our logo and photo shoots. And we cant forget Andy Rollins for tagging Graham and Jonny with their matching Hog tattoos! And to everyone who has supported us over the past few months; bought the single; shared the video; and shared the love - thank you all so much and may you have a Happy New Year!
