The homepage for my browser is Drudereport. It is not that I am a fan of Matt Drudge, I just appreciate a quick look at headlines in the news. Granted, if its on the net, it is not necessarily the truth in part or in whole and often the headlines are of a who-gives-a-damn varitey, like the latest Kardashian krap. Todays headlines were chockablock full of pretty much everything and anything having to do with just released Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, previously held captive for 5 years by the Afghani Taliban. Again, the veracity of a headline on the net can be questionable. It can be a spoof or a purposely misleading worded headline. But the ones on Bergdahl, if true in part or in whole, are more than troubling, they are of great concern. One headline, which draws on Afghan intelligence reports, states that Bergdahl converted to Islam, took on the name Abdullah and tought his captors how to use a cell phone as a remote device to set off roadside bombs, a source of serious harm and lethality to US Troops. If this report is true, Bergdahl, even if not a deserter, became a traitor. If he is both a deserter and a traitor, the shame is we can only hang him once. In the coming days, and likely even more today, we will learn a great deal about Bowe Bergdahl. There will be Congressional inquiries, Pentagon examinations and any witnesses will be called the night Bergdahl left his post. Hopefully, that array of investigation will yield the truth. Mixed in of course, will be headlines, complete with check out line tabloids blaring nonsense per their customary manner as they rush to judgement, facts be damned. And that is exactly what Team Obama has done: facts be damned. Granted, they might well know more than most, being privy to findings not known to the general public. But if headlines are a guide, more so if expressed by reputable news organizations, it appears Team Obama, ably led by Susan Rice, again, has rushed to judgement on Bergdahl. Its an interesting study of Team Obama as they flip and flop about. They have the consistency of taffy on a hot Summers day; a little stretch here, a little there. On the VA scandal, they withhold comment because of ongoing investigations and that is the prudent thing to do. Yet on Bergdahl, by their words, you might think he is Sgt. Alvin York, 1st Lt. Audie Murphy and John Wayne all rolled into one. Ready to assist Team Obama in their snap judgement of Bergdahl, are the usual suspects: most of the press, even that part that spends hours giving us nonsense, and likely a good many Democrats. I have more than once made reference to Jimmy Breslins The Gang That Couldnt Shoot Straight and cross-referenced that to Team Obama. And it fits. But if they are wrong on Bergdahl at every level, Bergdahl becomes Susan Rices latest video of certainty...which was another purposeful rush to judgement.
