Reader Opinions Nancy Brown SEP 07 • Dear Friends, On behalf of my sisters, Susan Brown Smith, Villanova, PA, and Janet Brown Ritch, Duxbury, MA, I would like to thank everyone for coming to the Joseph T. Brown Family Farm Estate Tag Sale. We are gratified that so many local residents of the Forum Towns came to keep the many items local. We reacquainted ourselves with so many friends of our parents, Joe and Elsie Brown. We also met even more new friends that now have a treasure or two that were a part of the Brown history from the past 200 years. We especially would like to thank several groups who gave us a helping hand to make the Sale run smoothly; the DCS Eighth Grade students and parents, under the direction of Lynn Facasso, Deerfield Boy Scout Troop 138, under the direction of Scout Master Kevin Webber, and Scout Leaders Jim Tomilson and John Dubiansky, and the Deerfield Police Dept. for their helpful instruction to keep pedestrians safe, as well as the unsung helpers too numerous to list by name. It is now time to pass the keys of the Farmstead to another family. We three "girls", as my parents would call us, our cousin Bruce Herrmann, all our spouses, children, and grandchildren are very sad to see the property leave the Brown heritage. The property will be sold as one parcel; we feel a new owner with a philosophy of stewardship would be the right fit. The Brown Farm not only belongs to my sisters and me, but to the history of the Town of Deerfield. My husband, Herb McKinney, and I will continue to make Deerfield our residence and home. We were married at the Deerfield Community Church 40 years ago. After 14 moves and nine houses, we are ready to settle down! Again, we thank you for coming to the Joseph T.
