The hottest city in the world today is Adelaide in South Australia, the UN has declared, with temperatures reaching 46°C (around 115°F). But most of the country is being affected by a heatwave, putting animals under extreme stress. Animals Australia recommends these 4 simple things to help save native wildlife. 1) LEAVE WATER OUT: Keep it in the shade and high up if possible, to keep wildlife safe from predators. 2) COVER YOUR POOL: Hot animals trying to beat the heat can drown in pools. 3) KEEP AN EYE OUT: Look out for heat-stressed wildlife - and if you spot any critters who look like theyre struggling, call your local wildlife group for help: .bit.ly/1hcvpHu 4) BE PREPARED: Keep an emergency kit in your car – including water, a blanket/towel and a box – in case you come across exhausted wildlife while you drive. Please SHARE this post with anyone in heatwave-affected areas and stay safe in the heat. Thanks for this post go to our Australian friends over at ScienceAlert.
