The house analogy: How many times does it take a man to stop hitting rock bottom? A man living in a two story home loves the first floor, he knows its pleasurable, & safe. His bible is on the first floor where he can grow with God. He has all his entertainment and music equipment up on second floor, so thats where he goes to cut loose. He gets concerned because whenever he cuts loose a little too much he decides to go to the attic, where he really enjoys his time acting a fool. Now once hes out of control he decides he might as well go out the window and dance on the roof to reach for the stars and try to reunite himself with God. Hes closer now to Him. At least thats what he thinks. The problem is, the man wasnt focused on God by the time he got to the roof, & everything he did in between the first floor and roof wasnt of God. The man looking up at the sky slips and falls into the attic, right through the attic floor. He gains speed and continues crashing through all the levels until he smacks the cold concrete of the basement. This man is beaten and battered. He would have guaranteed it was not possible to fall from the roof all the way to the basement. He would also say, I was fully focused on God, how could this happen to me. He would tell you, I was walking directly towards God. The question is was he a few degrees off his direction of God. How could he get closer without his Bible? Was he more likely focusing on his worldly challenges? On his challenges of the flesh? Shouldnt he have kept the Bible (word of God) in his heart and actions? What can he do now laying in the basement beaten and battered? He must put one foot in front of the other and start the journey of walking back up to first floor. He must look at what got him in the basement to begin with. He must change what and how he is doing whatever it is hes doing to reach the destination that he wants. Evil and wrongdoing doesnt necessarily feel like wrong doing, yet somehow being 1 degree off of Gods plans ended him up in a cold dark basement. That is the guises of evil. It might be like a moist chocolate chip cookie that you see, but without the milk of God, its no good. He must return to the bible on first floor and strengthen his bond with God through Jesus Christ. He will realize that he doesnt need to be on the roof to be closer to God.
