The #icebucketchallenge is an activity where people are either filmed dumping a bucket of ice water on their heads or they donate to the amyotrophic lateral schlerosis (ALS) Association. ALS, also known as Lou Gherigs disease, is a disease where neurons lose their structure or function, or even die, causing difficulty in breathing, swallowing and speaking, decrease in muscle mass and unusual muscle stiffness. The #icebucketchallenge has become a worldwide trend, with famous people such as former US president George W Bush recently participating in it. The person who takes the challenge then nominates someone else to take it as well. The nominee has 24 hours to complete the challenge and post it on social media. If the person fails to do so, they must make a financial donation to the charity. Slam 100.5fs JW and Blaze, hosts of the Grand Slam Morning show, took the challenge in GMLs car park this morning.
