The idea of rights has become dubious due to the massive debate - TopicsExpress

The idea of rights has become dubious due to the massive debate and polarization on many such issues. I propose new words... survives: a noun which basically describes the minimum level or amount of resources and support needed in order to preserve life, whether that be human life, animal life, etc. thrives: a noun which basically describes the optimal level or amount of resources and support needed to encourage and facilitate a thriving human life, animal life, etc. ... So regardless of whether it is right to do something or not, we can measure first whether a certain environment will lead to a survival atmosphere in which human beings are surrounded by just enough to survive. Or whether a certain environment will lead to a thriving atmosphere in which human beings are surrounded by an optimal amount of resources and support in order to thrive. Using basic logic, one realizes that if all humans were surrounded by an environment which leads to thriving, ALL humans would mutually benefit from this arrangement as more human potential would be fulfilled. Crime would all but disappear. Joy and happiness would abound... And many of these things can be empirically verified for all those out there who are doubtful of such claims. So then the choice becomes not whether it is right or wrong to give certain people access to resources even though they may not deserve it... ... The choice can instead be reframed to ask whether we would rather a thriving world with more peace, more human potential fulfilled, more cooperation, more acceptance of diversity, more unity, more love, more joy, more to go around, better food, cleaner water, more intelligently designed transportation systems, free access to superb education and healthcare for all, free energy, etc? Do we want all this or do we want the world we currently live in with needless death due to structural violence, hunger, curable disease, war between each other over resources we could all share, etc? Which option do you prefer?
