The idea that fast food is disproportionately bad for us, and - TopicsExpress

The idea that fast food is disproportionately bad for us, and disproportionately evil, has become so entrenched in our culture, particularly with the success of Morgan Spurlocks Supersize Me, that most people dont bother to ask any questions. I remember being struck by the sloppiness of Spurlocks experiment - he didnt just eat a standard McDonalds meal three times a day, he forced himself to max out and gorge until he was in pain. He also went out of his way to stop burning calories by avoiding physical activity. In short, there was nothing in his experiment to suggest that the changes his body and morale underwent over the course of his regime were down fast food per se, and not just increased calorie- and fat-intake. In any case, much of what youve heard about fast food is wrong, as Dunning explains.
