The identity of a nation lies in its culture and language is 99.9% of your culture. Our language defines us and confirms who we are. In Kashmir we glorify praying in Arabic,speaking in Urdu,singing in Hindi and writing in English. Where I ask you is the place for your culture and tradition? Without teaching your child to pray to his/her God in your mother tongue, without teaching them to always communicate in Kashmiri whether speaking or singing or writing..........how I ask you my fellow Kashmiris would you be able to preserve your culture and history? By following the trajectories of praying in Arabic, speaking in Urdu/Hindi and learning/writing in English.........you have put a glorious language onto its deathbed, the literary tradition of Kashmiri is as old as English but look where English is today and see where your mother-tongue is! Do say a prayer for Kashmiri language today and ask God for its survival but do it in Arabic! Be-gum roz Kaeshira, Arbi ghur cshu zindeh teh Hangul makleov, Angreaz cshu kayim teh LaddiShah makleov, Urdu Cshuk wannan teh Rababsaaz makleov!
