The ides of March are come Aye Caesar -but not gone...The middle of the month or IDES is the 15th... and I promised myself that I shall remind my Leaders on the 15th of each month what I would like to see urgently done. As I did last month, I start off with : (1) Increase the age of consent to 18 years to match the voting and marrying age. (2) Go for TWO-TERM limits. I know this wont be a popular choice but for the good of the country it might be the best way to go. Lame duck leaders usually hurry to get something done so as to be remembered favourably. (3) Speed up the delivery of justice in this country. That my friend Christine Hewitts murder remains unsolved after 7 years really left me down hearted. Dont let the attack on the police deter those who try to protect, defend and serve...Remember than when rats are cornered they become their most vicious ..for they smell their own annihilation coming towards them slowly and surely. Minister Mark Golding I am praying for you to succeed. You seem to genuinely care! (4) Thanks Heavens the LEGALIZE GANJA motion seems to be finally going somewhere. There exists templates of how to deal with such a move and so we have no real excuse to flounder or blunder with this one. Keep going you government folks! (5) I call again as do other voices, for a greater reduction of imports and increases in local production. This is NOT rocket science. Its such an OBVIOUS OBVIOUS obvious! (6) Work WITH the natural environment - not against it. Where the environment is concerned the whole world has to become a MONO-culture. (7) Calling again on Chairperson Syringa Marshall-Burnett to do her best to see that services to assist the elderly be, in so far as is humanly possible, be accommodated in the same venue or at nearby sites. I got caught with this inconveneince again when I had to travel from Constant Spring to KSAC downtown Kingston re getting a tax reduction. To say nothing of the ordeal at the KSAC...had to rauise my voice and remind the parties that I was a Councillor once so I know how they behave...that brought another gentleman to my assistance. Long story... but the point I want to make is explained above. That is my basket of requests for this October month. Be at it again Next month my leaders all....Wake up!... Land of my Birth I pledge to SERVE SERVE SERVE thee - so serve! Lets see it in tangible ways! Respect & Blessings
