The idiocy of many authority figures in this country has rendered me speechless. Fine by me if they want to put themselves up as subjects of ridicule but dont put Islam under the same spotlight to showcase their incapacity to handle situations fairly. And of course, the media just gobbles it up, not bothered that this twisted perspective is exposed to the masses. Time and time again Im reminded and I still have to remind myself that I should not judge Islam based on the conduct of Muslims. How often would someone (Muslims and non Muslims both) actually read up about what Islam actually teaches? If they view Islam through the conduct of Muslims, is it shocking that they have such aversion towards Islam? As Muslims we have a duty to represent Islam in the best way. People can mock me but please do not mock Islam for my shortcomings as a Muslim. Islam is perfect, Muslims are not. At the same time, know that there are some Islamic teachings that would make little sense to you until you look at its reasoning from a proper Islamic perspective. And more importantly, when you have a firm belief in Allah and his attributes. Being a Muslim is not what drives me to comply. Yes, initially that could be my response. Perhaps youd ask me, Why do you pray 5 times a day? or Why do you wear a headscarf?. To make things simple Id tell you its because Im Muslim. When you probe further, I may show you evidences to support why Im doing this to feed your logical mind. Probe even further and Id tell you the only reason (in fact it should be the main reason) why Im doing what I do and being who I am is because I seek the pleasure of Allah. If that doesnt make sense to you, then nothing I do would ever make sense to you until you sincerely believe in Allah. I guess Im not speechless after all. And I think I went a little off topic ;) #thinkingoutloud #takeitorleaveit
