The impeachment move against Mr. President by Waziri Tambuwal is what I describe as coup against Nigeria and Nigerians. However, his thirst for absolute power has been quashed by the leader and deputy deader of the House. The leader of the House, Mulikat Adeola-Akande, in his statement, described the Bill as “totally undemocratic,”. He further stated that laws are made based on specifics of any given society. In the same vein, the deputy leader of the House, Leo Ogor also cautioned that impeachment proceedings are usually extreme cases which the said section had explicitly provided for, adding that the proposed amendment negates the principle of fair hearing as the House “would be the judge in its own case” rather than the arbiter it is expected to be. Tambuwal is simply biting off more that his mouth can chew.
