The importance of the issue described in this video cannot be overstated and is largely a result of our current economic system, which by consequence is dependent on a strong monetary system. But the term economy has one interesting definition which is, careful management of available resources. This definition has nothing to do with money, but instead it points to the things that money buys. Therefore it suggests that there could be an economic system that is not dependent solely on a strong monetary system...but one that supports an environment of wellbeing through careful management of goods and humans. One that requires jobs made to exist in order to sustain a healthy society. Simply put, yes robots can perform some tasks better than humans but does that make the result better for human health and the health of the earth. This makes one think, do jobs today exist to make our world a better place, or do they exist simply to make short term monetary gains. So I ask, why do we do what we do? What are we doing with our progress? Or in a more existential manner, where are we going?
