The inaugural running of the Kilworth Festival 5km Fun Run in 2012 was a resounding success. The feedback we received from the 147 participants was nothing but positive & within hours of the finish people (including those who were regretting not having taken part) were already planning their assault on the 2013 Kilworth Festival 5km Fun Run. We had a big hill, a small hill, lots of en-route music & support and, as the title suggests, lots of FUN. The event is open to walkers and runners alike. The Start & Finish are in the middle of Kilworth Village as well as registration making it very accessible. The event coincides with the fantastic Fair in the Square which was an amazing spectacle last year with lots to be enjoyed by the young & old. So while you head off and run your race there’s plenty to entertain your support crew as they anticipate your arrival back at the finish line. All this is followed up at 4.30pm with music in the Square by the very popular local group The Buachaills. So pack the baby wipes and the ‘smell well’ cos this is a full day out with bells on! While this event goes under the guise of a fun run we have added Chip Timing to this years race for the professional touch &, as for 2012, the course has been accurately measured by Jones Counter. To avoid queing on the day we have online registration at racedates.ie or registration will also be accepted before the race from 12.45pm. With plenty prizes up for grabs in various age categories, as well as the potential to win spot prizes for all participants, including generous vouchers sponsored by Paul Howard at Rejuvenate Fitness to help you continue the fitness buzz with personal training or indeed you could avail of a post race massage. All finishers also receive a 2013 finishers medal. So all roads lead to Kilworth on Sunday 11th August 2013……… Hope to see you there.
