The incredible WILTOLD PILECKI....ultimate patriot... . To prove that Auschwitz was killing people, and was not a labor camp as claimed, Pilecki forged papers to give himself a Jewish identity. In 1940 he deliberately ventured out during a ghetto roundup of Jews. He was, as planned, taken and sent to Auschwitz. Upon arrival, he redistributed food to prisoners, trained them in martial arts, and passed news out. He even built a radio that transmitted from within the camp, as well as organizing several resistance organisations! Having done all according to plan; surviving beatings, pneumonia, false executions and other untold horrors, he escaped. He & and chosen associates he had trained whilst in the camp, beat up and disposed of some guards, stole their clothes and left the camp carrying the guards stolen papers! They concealed themselves for three days in nearby woods, and then made their way in another change of clothes to meet up with the home army. Witolds reports found their way to the desks of Churchill and Roosevelt and were the first the world heard of the Death Camps. He fought on as a member of the Polish Home Army until the Warsaw uprising, in which he took part. Upon defeat, he was placed in POW camps, until his liberation in 1945, upon which he joined Polish 2nd Corps in Italy. Tragically, he met his demise at the hands of the Communist authorities, having set up a resistance network when he returned to Poland. He refused to be flown out when his cover was blown, and was taken into custody. Despite numerous tortures, he revealed nothing that could result in his colleagues deaths.During his trial he freely admitted to helping the resistance and anti-communist underground, being rightly proud of his work He was executed in May 1948. His last words were recorded as being, Long live free Poland.” The incredible WILTOLD PILECKI....ultimate patriot... .
