The influence of Islam upon other religions is so profound , that up to the present day the majority of Western scholars labour under the impression that they are independent of Islam ! Historians well know that during the so-called Middle Ages , a portion of the philosophical , scientific , and mathematical wealth of the Islamic tradition entered into and greatly enriched the West . Western Education is Islamic Education . Even Christian theology was affected , as is brilliantly evidenced in the works of St. Thomas Aquinas and other scholastics . To declare BOKO HARAM as an off-shoot of Islam is only possible for those who have no first-hand knowledge of Islamic literature - the educated-illiterate !
