The influence of the true roots of Blues in the rock era.. how players like Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, T-Bone Walker... and so many of the guitar heros of the time .. starting from Eric Clapton.. Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix.. not to mention the purests like Ry Cooder.. and it goes on.. If you listen carefully to those raw recordings ... Blind Lemon Jefferson, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson.. which were pretty raw.. you ( guitar folk)... can hear the licks of what was to come.. and it was very clear that those were just the seeds of something that could grow.. .. it was the vibe that those guitar heroes were able to tune into that probably ended up being the seeds(roots) that drove them to new heights.. You can even find this in Van Halen... this is a great blues .. its origins from the 30s and by Skip James... the tune is just perfect for the band .. as you can see.. in this rare version you see David Lee Roth.. doing the acoustic intro in Open Tuning (listening to the record from other live performances this was not the norm).. Although the recording is not the best there is a lot of energy in this performance..... and Eddies solo .. well its...monumental.. (yet perhaps not recognized)... On another note.. interestingly.. David Lee Roth at age 47 became an Emergency Medical Technician.. and worked as such in New York City for about 6 years.. (he obviously did not do it for the money).. Imagine calling 911.. and having David Lee Roth show up at your door!!!!! :-) Happy Sunday- youtu.be/g6HvImG06dE
