From my friend Groovy: I think the early Galactic sell-out speaks to the effect Phish will have on that weekend of Jazz Fest. To me, this says Phish is bringing a lot of people to town, and those people are gravitating to bands they know (Meter Men with Page, Galactic, Treys personnel with FiyaWater, etc.) I think youre also right about the lack of other competing shows first weekend. Hopefully, some promoters step up their game with some new shows. Otherwise, the potential influx of people could lead to a lot more sold-out shows with tickets tough to come by. So if you know any promoters, please encourage action!
