The information communication technology (ICT) minister, John Nasasira has expressed concern about the shortage of engineers in the country that has led to the collapse of some city buildings. “We have to find ‘medicine’ for the issue of unregistered engineers in the country. No wonder we have seen collapsing buildings in the city due to half-baked engineers,” a visibly angry Nasasira told guests during an annual dinner for the Uganda Institute of Professional Engineers. The dinner was held at Golf Course Hotel in Kampala . The minister wondered how the country can develop with one engineer per 53,000 people. “How can one engineer serve 53,000 Ugandans?
