The invoking of Godwins law by those seeking to minimise or indeed support Kim dot coms hate speech is entirely spurious. The law states that the longer an internet discussion continues the more likely it is to involve accusations of nazism or comparisons to hitler. In the case of Internetmanas self edited and fully sanctioned youtube posting of the Christchurch rally time was not a factor. The immediate reaction of people who saw it online or indeed simply heard the audio on radiolive on my show Thursday morning was one of shock and revulsion with many raising the spectre of hitler youth. Those who are attempting to discount or deride that reaction as invalid by raising Godwins law are displaying intellectual arrogance of the highest order.
