The issue of Police Community Relations is an matter about which Ive written and reported for some time. My very first professional position after graduate school was as a Police/Community Organizer for the Illinois State Commission on Human Relations. Funded by the Law Enforcement Administration of the U.S. Department of Justice. The program sought to mediate conflict between the police and community over thirty years ago.The issues are systemic and continue to share a similar thread of feelings of disrespect meted out by too many police officers. These complaints plague many communities of color around the nation.This program from my show Global Village Talk is from April 2012 aired on MNN TV Time Warner Cable. It reports on types of perceived disrespect and lethal violence during police encounters at the hands of police officers as long standing police/community issues, The public affairs topic was presented to shed light on social justice administration as a serious problem and provide statistical data about the issues and rules undergirding policing in New York City.
