The issue of depriving 90,000 children of Nuapada district of the midday meal (MDM) service for one day resounded again at a workshop on Integrated Child Protection Scheme held here by the District Child Protection Society to generate awareness among the elected Zila Parishad members. BJP leader Sanjay Tiwari wanted to know whether the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which is a quasi judicial body, was empowered to initiate any action against those teachers who withdrew MDM for one day to create pressure on the district administration to revoke suspension of some teachers involved in a fake enrollment issue. Answering the question, the members of CWC replied that attention of the State authority had been drawn. In the meanwhile, it is learnt that the suspended teachers and the teachers association of Nuapada were planning to take help of the judiciary.
