The journey - Summary I divided this journey into 3 different parts. First one was to get from Lithuania to Lublin, which consisted of long distances through the flat-hilly region of eastern Poland second one from Lublin to Kosice, in slovakia, which will take me straight through the Carpathian mountains, and the last one that will bring me from Kosice to my soon-to-be hometown Tirgu Mures. Today I finished the first third of it. Somedays it was really really tough ones on the saddle. 90km from Marijampole-LT to Suwalki-PL on day one was important for me to learn how to handle the 15kg i have on my bags, a well as keeping the pace quite easy. Day two, with 149km between Suwalki and Bialystok, was particularly hard. With sand roads, 5km of cobblestones, headwind and almost no gps sign, I discovered a forgotten village-inhabited Poland. I passed through 16 of them on a land coverd with huge and beautiful lakes and forests. Following that I had a day off in Bialystok with Couchsurfer Rogério and Flávia, singers in Bialystok Opera. I met even more brazilian people there which kind of made me feel home. The city is bigger than I expected and also very neat and modern, with a charming city center and local palace and cathedral. AIESEC Białystok there gave me interview and I must admit they impressed me for their commitment and hard working. Day three, the longest one so far, was from Bialystok to Siedlce, covering 151km. However, with perfect weather condition, the only challenge of the day was pushing the bike on foot for 5km, what took from me 1 hour and some hundredths of calories. The rest consisted of some quite good dirt roads, as well as empty asphalt roads. In Siedlce I was amazingly hosted by Marta Siwinska, which along with her friend, took me to know the city better. It is a quite cozy town, that had some big improves in recent years, as I could see. New roads, sidewalks, buildings, pubs, everything. With only 70km from Warsaw, I bet that will keep on going. Day four from Siedlce to Lublin was 130km long. The distance of the previous day along with the scorching hot temperatures made this day a real challenge. 34ºC with a desert dry weather as well as me getting lost in the middle of a forest with no GPS made it really hard no to despair. The real bad thing came later on the day, when due to problems with my computer, I lost all the videos and photos from the trip to Lublin. It was really sad, as I had a lot to show from these 130km. That same evening I met people from Aiesc Lublin who hosted me in the dorm on the company of Snow Yellow and Destria Putri. Today I was the day with Joanna Duszyk, very spiritual couchsurfer who hosted me really well and was really curious about Brazil and other things. Lublin is a very beautiful city. It reminds me of St Petesburg center somehow, with the somewhat classical 2-floor building style. Nice place, nice food, and nice beer. Tomorrow, 121km from here to Tarnobrzeg. It is rainy, 12ºC and windy. But after a rest day, I feel even better then when the trip started. Early in the morning I will go get my bananas, honey and can of coke, and then ready to roll to Lithuania-Romania Part II Carmen-Maria Todoran, Zuzana Belasova, Dede Vose and others. Im comming! :)
