The judges critique of Fatal Reaction is in, and while I am a fan - TopicsExpress

The judges critique of Fatal Reaction is in, and while I am a fan of short chapters and frenetic pacing, clearly this person is not so much. Overall, I think this is a glowing review. I dont believe in altering things to look solely positive. This is what was sent to me verbatim. Every well thought out review should showcase both the works highs and lows. Every author should accept it when they do. Im so incredibly proud of Fatal Reaction and theres a sequel forthcoming. Theres also some tentative news, but Ill leave it at that until I have something solid. In the meantime, grab yourself a copy only $2.99 on Amazon. At the heart of Fatal Reaction is the main character of Ana who is fully realized, who is every bit as confused and passionate and stubborn and intelligent as any one of us. Her descent into the folds of the plot is completely believable as each twist or discovery seems perfectly plausible, and Anas reaction equally so. The narrative is tightly woven and compelling, moving at a fast pace while still allowing the reader to experience a true depth of characterization as they develop a full appreciation of the events as they take place. The design of the book is very professional. Though the cover is simple, it conveys the major themes of the book and puts the reader in the appropriate frame of mind for the taut prose ahead. The chapters are generally too short to really allow the reader to develop a seamless sense of the narrative. In fiction, so much of the pacing comes from the deployment of the chapters, how they build the suspense or momentum of the narrative arc, and in this case the length of these chapters really prevents the reader from fully giving over to the flow. I find that it emphasizes the frenetic nature of the narrative but I do find I wish we could settle and delve a little more deeply in some instances. - Judge, 22nd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards amazon/dp/B00GO4P8EY
