The key to contentment is to stop focusing on what you dont have - TopicsExpress

The key to contentment is to stop focusing on what you dont have or what you think you loss, and start thanking God for where you are now. I had been in a fog of discontentment since I got saved because although I was grateful for my salvation I had to leave a lot of things and people behind. I felt like they were taken from me and that feeling came to its peak in recent months, being in a completely new place with all new people and practically shunned by my previous church for the move. I felt like God once again something you have called me to do is making me lose. In a state of discontentment things can get very very dark and you feel the most alone because your heart is rejecting God and rejecting all the new stuff in your life. I was fighting against change tooth and nail. I wanted comfort and familiarity. I was NOT ready to say goodbye. Then the bow broke. After a week of just self pity and anguish I decided to take matters into my own hands and reach back to my past. Like God I dont care if you say I cant have this, I say its mine. Quickly I became in bondage and anxiety arose because I knew I was acting outside of his will. The fear of failure was heavy and finally doom came. The moment you realize you are not in control, just because you reach back to your past doesnt mean its going to be there to grab you. Thats when you realize that past you have been longing for since youve been moving forward isnt even there. Now I know and since, with lots of prayer and great new friends to bring joy I can accept that things are moving forward, there is no looking back, Christ is the hope of my salvation, there is nothing but gratitude for what He has done. Im on the journey of contentment and it feels good. P.S. I havent loss anything.
