Aside from the cheesy symbolism (that spider web hand) this is a very well constructed scene. The difficulty of the situation allows to understand hes trying. The silence and slow-motion, although cheesy, shows the effect of relative time in these moments of fear. Soothing music... soothes the body and mind, preparing it to focus on the emotional explicit elements that we resonate with through personal experience.
