The kids ran the 1/2 mile IronKids race today and it was interesting to see how differently they approached racing. Brycen was super excited, but worried because we werent going to be with him. I told him just dont wait on the girls and just run! Follow the other kids to the finish line. And thats exactly what he did. Bradie was timid but excited. She was all smiles as she got to the finish line. She said I didnt stop once. I just kept running, then walked, then ran then walked some more! Gracie well she was determined to do it her way. Stuffed animals in hand she took off, for maybe 1 minute then she walked for 10. There was no convincing her to run. Then the last 1/3 of the race she takes off. Crosses the finish line all smiles but most importantly she felt very proud of her accomplishment. Lesson learned for all of our racers tomorrow: always run your own race. And cross the finish line with a smile on your face proud of your accomplishment!
