The landing incident rocked the political establishment when it emerged the Gupta family had allegedly used their influence with Mr Zuma, senior government officials and the Indian high commission to get official clearance to land at the air force base in Waterkloof, Pretoria, under the guise of an official trip. Instead, the aircraft was carrying guests for the wedding of Vega Gupta, daughter of Anil Gupta, one of three brothers seen as close to the Zuma family. An interministerial task team that reported to Mr Radebe, the then minister of justice, laid the blame at the feet of the two air force officers and former Department of International Relations and Co-operation head of state protocol Bruce Koloane.
